2023 HIGH FIVE GRANT FOR MOMS SEMIFINALISTS

We are so excited to announce our 2023 High Five Grant for Moms Semi-Finalists!

Thanks to our generous sponsors and all of YOU, we are able to award $16,000 more in grants than we anticipated. While we wish we could give money to everyone, we are thrilled to share our 16 deserving semi-finalists with you. They will each receive $1,000 for their business!

Sushmitha Pidatala of Arjuna Design Studio loves promoting a classic South Asian aesthetic on her home goods e-commerce marketplace. Her company is passionate about advocating for artisans keeping ethnic traditions alive and pushing forward designs that mesh function and form.

Brianne Taggart of Breezy Babies leads a team in providing high-level, one-on-one lactation care to families around the world, regardless of their background. As a company, they hope to bridge existing gaps in breastfeeding education and assistance.

Allison Roberts of Burst Fitness is committed to helping women get active in just five minutes a day. No equipment, no need to even change clothes. Just quick burst exercises that can help cut the risk of heart disease and cancer.

With Call Emmy, Arezou Zarafshan has created a platform connecting busy moms to vetted and background-checked people ready to provide on-demand help with everything from childcare to cleaning to errands.

Lanessa Hubbard of Certified Nails has dedicated herself and her company to promoting health and well-being through specialized hand- and foot-care services for elderly, diabetic, and immunocompromised clients.

At Codezilla Kids, Sheri Lynn Allain uses school presentations and summer camps to introduce kids across Toronto, Canada to STEM and coding. She has specifically designed courses that help bring girls into STEM, and their mobile setup allows them to reach kids from a variety of backgrounds.

Alexendra Christianson is committed to ensuring Empire Theatre is an inclusive, supportive environment for all kids. With her team, she celebrates diversity and encourages children to explore their passon for the performing arts regardless of skill level or experience.

With enrollment growing every quarter since Esports Palm Beach opened in 2022, Jennifer Vilela is busy introducing competitive gaming to Palm Beach, FL. She focuses on providing all the benefits of a team experience to kids who may not participate in traditional athletics.

Katherine Watanabe Bennett of Family Mediation Hawaii uses her experience as a family law attorney to help create better outcomes for children and families going through a divorce by promoting child-centered settlement agreements that support parental goals and keep everyone out of court.

Brodie Ellen George of Jalayimaya Swim is an Aussie who is passionate about creating country-conscious and body-positive swimwear that celebrates her Aboriginal culture. Her garments are made-to-order and use recycled materials whenever possible.

At Once Upon An RFP, Caryn Kent Dean provides fractional proposal professionals to support clients with their RFP-based proposals and business development projects. She takes great pride in her commitment to help every business realize their potential for growth.

Noella Sudbury and her legal tech company, Rasa Legal, delivers affordable criminal record expungement services for customers with old and minor records, which opens up a new world for her clients when it comes to housing, employment, education, and travel.

Pregnancy-related dairy and egg allergies didn’t keep Stephanie Catlow from enjoying the food made by her Italian family. Her micro-bakery, The Salty Dough Company, makes delicious dairy and egg-free Italian-style baked goods and pastas for everyone who loves the flavors of Italian cooking, even when those flavors might not love them back.

At The Sesh Foundation , Maggie Segrich and Meredith Wheeler provide pivotal spaces to non-profits, community organizations and businesses owned by and impacting women, communities of color and the LGBTQ+ community.

Melanie Mfuh and her African-inspired fashion brand, Uzuri Closet, are dedicated to fostering progress in Africa through the world of fashion. Her goal is to build manufacturing facilities in Ghana and Kenya to create a fusion of tradition and innovation while empowering others.

Julia Billings created Wildhaven Wools to reduce overconsumption in the children’s clothing industry while encouraging kids to spend more time outside. She took grow-with-me design, common in the home sewing world, and combined it with premium merino wool fabric, to make sustainable, ethically made children's clothing that lasts.
